This section will discuss special deployment considerations for an enterprise GIS that includes ArcGIS GeoEvent Server. Before reading the other topics in this section, you should be thoroughly familiar with the information contained in Base ArcGIS Enterprise deployment.
The various options for deploying GeoEvent Server in your enterprise GIS can quickly result in complex system architectures. Please take the time to read and understand the information contained prior to deploying your real-time GIS system.
Single-machine deployment
The base ArcGIS Enterprise deployment is applicable for situations where system performance is not at a premium such as development environments. When adding GeoEvent Server to your enterprise GIS, you can install it on the same machine as the other components. However, system architects should understand the implications of system resource sharing between ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS GeoEvent Server before such a solution is deployed in production.
Multiple-machine deployment
Deploying a multiple-machine deployment is a much more common approach. The guidelines presented in the Base ArcGIS Enterprise deployment and the Deployment patterns for ArcGIS Enterprise (specifically the section on ArcGIS GeoEvent Server section) are a good starting points for designing your system architecture.
